Instructions:
  1. Read: Aschengrau and Seage, ch. 2 - Measures of Disease Frequency, and ch. 3 - Comparing Disease Frequencies

  2. Read the lecture slides and attend the lecture (if you cannot attend the lecture, the slides have verbatim speaker notes; there are also recorded audio tutorials, but these are not as up-to-date as the speaker notes).

  3. Work through the example that illustrates the relation between incidence rate (incidence density) and incidence proportion (cumulative incidence). [See the Incidence and Prevalence module in Blackboard.]

  5. Answer (all of) the case study questions. Write succinct answers that include a brief explanation or statement of support.

  6. (Optional, but earns credit) Submit the answers to the starred case study questions (numbers 2, 5, 9, 15, and 18 - see the class schedule for due date).

  7. Discuss the answers to (all of) the case study questions with your small group.

  8. Agree on the answers (including the brief explanation or statement of support), so the facilitator can submit the group’s consensus answers (for all questions) by the date indicated in the class schedule.
